About our client: Our client is a high growth Property Management Firm for one of the top 10 real estate investment firms in the south-side of Chicago.  They currently have over 1500 units under management across Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis and more. About the position: Our client is looking for a tech savvy Accounts Receivable Specialist responsible for ensuring residents are up-to-date on their rent payments by identifying delinquent accounts and using organization, persistence, and communication skills to successfully implement a variety of collection techniques.

Responsibilities for the Accounts Receivable Specialist:

  • Maximizes resident satisfaction by delivering prompt and courteous service by phone and email.
  • Achieves daily and monthly calls and account-delinquency percentage goals.
  • Generates and distributes resident communications/notices, including payments, balances and account reconciliations (i.e. late payment notices, small balance letters, eviction notices, returned check memos).
  • Actively responds to resident billing inquiries and appeals concerning collection actions and policies by researching concerns and providing accurate and timely responses.
  • Maintains documents and records through use of Appfolio.
  • Documents all collection activities in Appfolio.
  • Treats each account holder with respect and professionalism.
  • Assists with resident concerns or related activities as requested by management.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Established, documents, and monitors payment plans for delinquent account holders, if appropriate.

Ideal Qualifications for Accounts Receivable Specialist:

  • 2-5 years’ of collections experience, within the multi-family real estate industry is preferred.
  • Appfolio or equivalent software experience
  • Math Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest and percentages.
  • Language Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills, including professional communication style, high quality customer service skills, and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks with a high level of organizational skill and efficiency while meeting strict deadlines and performance metrics.
  • Problem Solving Skills: Experience in negotiating solutions to problems independently with minimal supervision.
  • Technology skills: Microsoft Office Suite experience required and Appfolio experience a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to proof, verify and edit complex data, transcribe and cross reference data and documents and reports.

Compensation plan: Compensation plan will include a base salary.  Reward on metrics and performance which includes these various layers of compensation.
